Petrol Dealers Association wanted to close petrol stations (except those on highways) after 10pm and open at 7am. The ministry however want them to remain open, and mop the floors at around 3am. Granted, the original suggestion by the petrol dealers were a bit daft – what about petrol stations with high traffic between 10pm and 7am?

The correct policy here is to let individual petrol stations decide their operating hours, instead of the government dictating it. But apparently, if petrol stations aren’t open 24-hours, consumers would fall over and die.
