Lame duck Prime Minister

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Pak Lah) did perhaps his biggest mistake post-8 March: announce retirement plans. Good luck executing “projects” now. In other news, I decided to start a betting table – will Pak Lah never reach October 2010, retire then, or his term exceed October 2010?

(Right now, based on the lesser/lamest/weakest evil methodology, I’m hoping Pak Lah sticks around beyond October 2010)

Crime Busting

Heh, I don’t really care for the Anwar Ibrahim-Najib Tun Razak mudslinging involving criminal allegations, but this is funny:

On the name

One thing confuses me about Singapore is why just about everyone assumes my name is pronounced “Ra-JAN” instead of “Ra-jen”. But beyond that, I find it funny that nowadays I respond to the prior, while previously, I get offended. Probably because thoughout primary and secondary school, it was a thing to do to pronounce my name the bahasa baku way (i.e. “Ra-JAN”) to make fun of the name. Funny that.

More than that, nowadays I’m responding to “Raj”. Honestly, I don’t think a name that is five characters long and two syllabus long needs to be shorten, but I prefer “Jan” to “Raj” because of the tonnes of people I know that is named “Raj” (and the fact that “Raj” will be equally appropriate for two other members of my immediate family).

Proposal

Make Najib and Anwar disappear. Newspapers (Singaporean ones, especially) will become readable. Best of all, then neither will become Prime Minister. I propose the next prime minister should be appointed by lottery in the Orang Utan reservation.
